General Description:
  • Assist in opening and closing register at the beginning and the end of each day
  • Handles all types of transactions regarding the payment of guest check whether by cash, charge, gift card, etc.
  • Answer phones and take orders for take-out
  • Assists in readying lobby/cashier area and menus for business prior to opening including stocking candy area, wiping down menus and learning waitstaff stations for the shift as well as keeping lobby/cashier area clean during business.
  • Greet and seat customers as they enter the restaurant


Essential Job Duties:
  • Manipulate objects with both hands
  • Lift up to 22 pounds occasionally
  • Stand and walk continuously throughout an eight hour work day
  • Bend at the waist and twist the body to retrieve items repetitively
  • Reach above shoulder level frequently
  • Coordinate two or more physical operations simultaneously
  • Accept accountability for money handled, including possible errors
  • Crouch, stoop, or squat several times per hour
  • Maintain company safety and sanitation standards
  • Ability to learn and perform specific duties on a computer system. Must use basic mathematical and reading skills
  • Use basic mathematical and reading skill to compute guest checks where the computer of Sales System is not in use or when the system isn’t functioning
  • Work in a team oriented atmosphere. If the cashier is busy help with non-cash transactions. Only the cashier on duty and the manager can handle cash transactions at all times. If host is busy jump in and help at all times possible.
  • Work under time achievement oriented goals based upon customer demand and labor supply
  • Completion of duties to meet the demands of a customer turnover at various time frames
  • Perform a variety of tasks at various times
  • Ability to understand steps and patterns necessary to follow an acceptable service sequence
  • Ability to communicate effectively and in a pleasant manner with customers and co-workers
  • Must maintain good personal hygiene
  • Knowledge of all the menu items when taking food orders
  • Must be reliable and punctual. Business demands may affect work schedule

Skills & Qualifications

Required (Essential) Education:
  • Ability to read English at a sixth grade level
  • Ability to perform simple math computations including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division
Preferred (Marginal) Education:
  • High School education preferred
  • Previous food service experience preferred
